Please remember these are my own preferences so you should accept or refuse based on your own needs.

Tweaks
------
This option is necessary if you use a laptop with an external monitor. On the ``General`` tab toggle ``Suspend when laptop lid is closed`` to ``Off``.
On the ``Appearance`` tab set ``Legacy Applications`` to ``Adwaita-dark``.
On the ``Top Bar`` tab toggle ``Weekday`` to On.
Close the Tweaks app.
Extensions
----------
There are a couple of extensions I like to setup on every system. The first is a weather app that uses the
`OpenWeather service <https://openweathermap.org/>`_ while the second displays a variety of information on my
system's performance which I find hady to have available at all times.
Sources

Open the app ``Software & Updates`` and on the first tab ensure the contrib and non-free repositories are checked.
This should probably see all the options checked. You will likely be asked to enter your password when you click
the first checkbox. Close the app and confirm you want to reload.
